FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

For this application we recommend the BRESSER Erudit DLX 40-1000x microscope in combination with a USB camera, e.g. the BRESSER MikroCam 1.3 MP. This solution offers better image quality and flexibility than a simple LCD microscope.

If you want to identify bacteria, it is usually more useful to create a culture. Microscopes are generally only sufficient to determine whether the bacteria are, for example, spherical or rod-shaped.
The Barlow lens is already installed in the eyepiece tube on many devices. It can be pulled out at the upper ridge to use the zoom function.
Possible causes:

  • Sample too thick / unsuitable: Use thin samples or fixed smears.
  • No cover glass or incorrect thickness: Objectives are optimized for cover glasses.
  • Condenser incorrectly adjusted: Do not open the diaphragm too far – otherwise contrast will be low.
  • Magnification too high: Rule of thumb: maximum 1000 × objective aperture. Example: With a 40x objective with aperture 0.65, the limit is about 650x.

It is ideally suited for detailed examinations, live observations, and reliable documentation of your results.

The microscope in detail

The Analyth STR Trino features 3 different objective magnifications, which can be easily changed by rotating the objective. This allows for direct switching between magnifications of 10x, 20x, and 40x. The stereo design shows structured objects particularly vividly and three-dimensionally. The low 10x initial magnification is especially suitable for working with children, allowing objects up to 20mm in size to be viewed completely. The Analyth STR is therefore particularly flexible in use. It is suitable for insects, plants, minerals, and much more, with applications in hobbies, schools, and professions. The stereo microscope can be used for quality control, in horticulture and agriculture, for limnology, and much more.

The trinocular tube allows for the comfortable connection of a camera. The microscope is compatible (depending on the adapter) with microscope cameras, DSLR, and system cameras.
Ask us which adapter you need.

The interpupillary distance and diopter adjustment are individually adjustable. The eyepieces have a large field of view of 20mm. They are equipped with removable rubber eyecups and are secured against removal.

The microscope can be powered either by the power supply or by 3 batteries (not included). This makes it portable, for example, outdoors in the garden or on an excursion.

The microscope camera in detail

The BRESSER MikroCam SF cameras are excellent for capturing photos and videos with a microscope. This allows observations of objects to be easily documented and shared with others. The high frame rate of the MikroCam SF series enables the creation of videos with a smooth image flow. The built-in Sony sensors provide good image quality, color reproduction, and dynamics.

The included software supports the following languages: German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Turkish.

The MikroCamLabII software offers a wide range of functions. The essential functions (e.g., exposure time and sensitivity) can be controlled automatically or manually.

Very convenient are the functions for so-called focus stacking (for high depth of field) and the creation of a mosaic or panorama. These two functions can be performed with a previously recorded image series or directly from the live view. The creation of sharply focused images using live focus stacking (EDF) is possible with the MikroCamLabII software in just a few minutes. While you focus on the microscope, the software gradually builds the finished, completely sharp result image without further intervention. This way, you get impressive, sharp image results in no time.

The measurement function* included in the software helps you determine sizes or display a scale. You can measure distances, angles, or areas with just a few clicks. Extensive functions support you in measuring circles with area and radius or even complex polygons.
Measurements can be performed in the captured image or in the live image. The MikroCamLabII software also has extensive algorithms for automated image analysis, e.g., for particle counting or area evaluation.

The housing features a C-mount connection thread and is therefore usable on microscopes from various manufacturers. We are happy to advise you on which MikroCam is optimally suited for your microscope.

For use on devices with a 23.2 mm receptacle, an optional 0.5x reduction optics (Art. No. 5914015 (fixed), Art. No. 5914005 (variable)) is available. For special applications, e.g., with a C-mount objective, the camera can also be mounted on the integrated 1/4" tripod thread.

*A suitable measuring tool is required for calibrating the measurement function, e.g.: Art. No. 5916710 or 5916720.

BRESSER Stereo Microscope Science ETD-201 8-50x Trinocular Zoom with MikroCam PRO HDMI 5MP Microscope Camera
High-quality complete set for precise analyses and sharp image transmission: This powerful set combines the Science ETD-201 stereo microscope with the advanced MikroCam PRO HDMI 5MP. It is ideally suited for detailed observations and documenting work results. The microscope in detailThe BRESSER Science ETD-201 is an optically high-quality reflected and transmitted light stereo microscope. It is suitable for use in medicine, agriculture and forestry, forensics, scientific research institutes and schools as well as for assembly and inspection of small components in precision mechanics and electronics. The particularly wide base with object table and the exceptionally large height adjustment range allow the observation of larger objects. The instrument features LED reflected and transmitted light illumination, which can be used individually or combined and each continuously adjustable. The reflected light incidence angle is particularly user-friendly adjustable and lockable. With interchangeable widefield eyepieces (WF10x) and a 6.25x stereo zoom objective (0.8x-5x), a continuous magnification range from 8x to 50x is realised. The click-stop zoom locks at predefined positions, so that magnifications can be exactly reproduced, e.g. for measurements on the microscope. The eyepieces have a field number of 22, allowing a visible field of view between 4.5 and 27.5 mm. The eye distance and dioptre adjustment are individually adjustable. The trinocular microscope head can be rotated 360° and has two eyepiece tubes inclined at 45° as well as a separate, parfocally adjustable camera tube for connecting a C-Mount camera, or MikroCam, up to a 1/2" sensor size. It delivers the microscope image live and without delay as an HDMI signal with Full HD resolution to a monitor or television. An optional 11'' HDMI monitor (Art. No. 5914110) can be mounted directly on the camera and provides brilliant and high-contrast images. For high-resolution microphotos, this camera features a high-quality Sony 5MP sensor, so images and videos can be saved on an SD card at resolutions higher than Full HD. The camera functions are operated via mouse directly on the on-screen menu. Measurements can now also be performed via the on-screen menu, turning your microscope with the MikroCam Pro HDMI 5MP into a fully-fledged digital measuring microscope. Additionally, the camera can also provide the microscope view in a wireless network via a WiFi module. However, connection to a PC via USB is no longer provided for this model. For this, we recommend the MikroCam Pro HDMI 5914180 model. The professional MikroCamLabII software is still included, allowing images to be edited and analysed afterwards.
