FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

For this application we recommend the BRESSER Erudit DLX 40-1000x microscope in combination with a USB camera, e.g. the BRESSER MikroCam 1.3 MP. This solution offers better image quality and flexibility than a simple LCD microscope.

If you want to identify bacteria, it is usually more useful to create a culture. Microscopes are generally only sufficient to determine whether the bacteria are, for example, spherical or rod-shaped.
The Barlow lens is already installed in the eyepiece tube on many devices. It can be pulled out at the upper ridge to use the zoom function.
Possible causes:

  • Sample too thick / unsuitable: Use thin samples or fixed smears.
  • No cover glass or incorrect thickness: Objectives are optimized for cover glasses.
  • Condenser incorrectly adjusted: Do not open the diaphragm too far – otherwise contrast will be low.
  • Magnification too high: Rule of thumb: maximum 1000 × objective aperture. Example: With a 40x objective with aperture 0.65, the limit is about 650x.

The Microscope in Detail

The NEW BRESSER Science Infinity microscope is the new flagship model of Bresser's biological microscope series. It features infinity-corrected planachromatic objectives with excellent image quality. Thanks to its contemporary optical design, it offers great flexibility when connecting accessories such as cameras.

The WF 10x eyepieces have a large field of view of 22 mm and are also ideal for glasses wearers. For protection, the eyepieces are equipped with a rubberized surface. The interpupillary distance can be adjusted from approximately 55 mm to approximately 75 mm. A diopter adjustment is possible with both eyepieces.

The powerful and durable LED illumination is adjustable and is also very suitable for contrast methods*.

The Köhler illumination is adjustable with the built-in aperture diaphragm and the height-adjustable and centering Abbe condenser (numerical aperture 1.25; with iris diaphragm). The condenser also features a printout of the various magnifications, allowing for quick and precise adjustment of the iris diaphragm.

The coaxial drives of the stage adjustment and the coarse and fine focusing enable ergonomic working.

The trinocular port allows for the direct connection of a C-Mount camera or MikroCam.

The Microscope Camera in Detail

The BRESSER MikroCam PRO HDMI 5MP impresses with its excellent image quality while being user-friendly. It delivers the microscope image live and without delay as an HDMI signal with Full HD resolution to a monitor or TV. An optional 11'' HDMI monitor (Art. No. 5914110) can be directly mounted on the camera, providing brilliant and high-contrast images.

For high-resolution micro photos, this camera features a high-quality Sony 5MP sensor, allowing images and videos to be saved on an SD card with higher resolution than Full HD.
The operation of the camera functions is done via mouse directly on the screen menu. Through the screen menu, measurements can now also be performed, turning your microscope with the MikroCam Pro HDMI 5MP into a fully-fledged digital measuring microscope.

Additionally, the camera can also provide the microscope view wirelessly via a WiFi module. However, a connection to the PC via USB is no longer provided for this model. For this, we recommend the MikroCam Pro HDMI model 5914180.

The professional software MikroCamLabII is still included, allowing images to be edited and evaluated later with the software.

Software for image evaluation included in the following languages
  • (no direct image capture via USB possible)
  • German
  • English
  • French
  • Polish
  • Turkish
  • Indonesian

The Display in Detail

The Full HD display is the ideal complement to the BRESSER MikroCam Pro HDMI and MINI HDMI
The display can be directly mounted on the camera with an adjustable holder. The screen provides brilliant images without artifacts, as the display has the same resolution as the output image of the camera. With the set of MikroCam and HDMI display, almost any trinocular microscope with camera connection can be upgraded to a digital microscope. This allows observation independently of a PC.

The size of the display is optimally chosen, allowing the microscope user to microscope as usual while simultaneously viewing the image on the monitor. The display provides optimal image quality with a large viewing angle of 178°! This way, multiple people can view the image without loss of quality.

The image from the microscope camera is displayed on the HDMI screen always without delay and with a high refresh rate of 60 FPS. The representation via HDMI microscope camera on an HDMI monitor is therefore usually of better quality than using a USB camera on a laptop or PC. This is particularly advantageous when work under microscopic control is to be carried out.

Many users also benefit from the improved ergonomics when the image can be viewed on the HDMI display. Especially higher magnifications with their high numerical aperture are uncomfortable for eye problems such as floaters. Digital viewing can provide relief here.

The display can be powered with the included Y-cable using the same power supply as the camera. A suitable, short, angled HDMI cable is also included, preventing cable clutter at the workplace. The mounting on a MikroCam PRO or MINI is done using two screws. Screws and tools are included.

FEATURES OF THE DISPLAY

  • 16:9 Full HD monitor with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels
  • Active area: 16.5 x 29.4 cm
  • Easy mounting directly on a MikroCam PRO or MINI
  • Large viewing angle (178°)
  • No separate power supply needed
